Pardon the Inexplicable

Pardon the Inexplicable focuses on the minor quirks and abnormalities of human invention. I often find myself constantly observing, but what draws my attention the best skews mundane. I believe that there is a story to be told behind every thing, no matter how inconsequential. This piece is a collection of my stories behind things: the art of the potential of the thing. 

My research process is no different than an ordinary leisurely stroll. I don’t go out searching for anything, my voice is best informed organically through randomness. I immerse myself in my environment’s said randomness. Things catch my eye. I take notes. Note-taking without taking note of why one thing is worthy of its note being taken. Pure, unfiltered, randomness. 

Notes on things is where my artistic vision is required. I collect every note, import every photograph, and recall every memory to sit with. To think on. In order to contextualize my precious things, my mind immediately jumps to storytelling. My what-ifs and who-dids and how-comes become and-thens and because-shes and in-order-tos. I write down every thing, its thing, and that thing’s thing. 

The purpose of Pardon the Inexplicable is to humor an audience with a world of hidden tales found in the everyday. A shift in perspective is so often required to understand the world, especially those living in it alongside yourself. Uprooting stories from things requires a specific compassion for things. Not so unlike the compassion required to listen and learn from others. There is a story, a reason, and a background behind everyone and every thing.
